The ingredients of Splendid Spoon are 100% plant-based, gluten-free, soy-free, and low in sugar and sodium. Splendid Spoon uses only whole, preservative-free ingredients.
Unfortunately, we did not have the best experience with Purple Carrot and found that the quality of their ingredients was not consistent. Some ingredients were excellent, whereas others like the cucumbers and avocado were inedible, and we needed to replace these with items from the supermarket. We believe that all meal kit companies should be open and transparent about where they source their ingredients, especially companies that have a plant-based focus. We found it to be disappointing that Purple Carrot did not include any details on their website about what was important to them when it came to their ingredients.

We are happy to report that the deliveries of both Splendid Spoon and Purple Carrot were beautifully organized with all contents clearly labeled and sorted appropriately. The shipments of each company arrived in insulated and recyclable boxes with enough ice or gel packs to keep the contents cold.
Both companies are environmentally friendly and use packaging that is reusable, recyclable, biodegradable, and compostable. Splendid Spoon uses 100% recyclable packaging, and the bulk of Purple Carrot’s packaging is recyclable.
